John Tillman Bio

John began his career in the Christmas tree industry in 1974 at the age of 15, working summers for the J. Hofert Company in Washington State. After spending 10 years with Hofert he started his own business, Northwest Plantations. Northwest Plantations farms 8 different species on approximately 195 acres over 9 different farms throughout Western Washington.

John has served as the Washington State Vice-President of the Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association (PNWCTA) and is currently the associate editor and Snip-It columnist for the Lookout, the trade publication of the PNWCTA.

In 2004, John’s award winning Christmas trees provided he and his family the honor of presenting First Lady Laura Bush with the White House Christmas tree. In addition to providing the White House Blue Room tree, John also provided the trees for the Oval Office and Camp David.

When John isn’t working on his trees he spends his free time riding dirtbikes and belongs to the Washington Oldtimers MX Club and Mudslingers MX Club.

John lives in Rochester, Washington with his wife, Carol, and their daughter, Rachel. Their son Tyler attends college in Colorado.
